Midnight Cat, Ranch Shirt
ふと、レザーのウエスタンシャツが着たくなった。
買うのか。
それとも、作るのか。
そんな事を考えている時に思い出したのが、 児島の染工場で見た“ある技術”。
それが、レザーコーティング。
通常であれば、大きな釜で何十着と一気に染めることで量産性を上げる。
でも今回お願いしたのは、真逆の方法。
1着ずつ、刷毛で塗る。 非効率で、でも圧倒的に“表情が出る”。
使うのは特殊な薬品。
そのままだとゴワつきが出るので、 まずはデニムをしっかり洗い込み、クタクタにしてからコーティング。
その結果、どうなるか。
凸の部分にはコーティングが乗り、 谷の部分や襟裏には、色落ちしたデニムが覗く。
それが、まるで最初からそういうデザインだったかの様に見える。
もちろん手塗りなので、ムラもあるし、 裏側にコーティング剤が付いている事もある。
でもそれも含めて、このシャツの“個体差”。
少しだけ、いつものTCBとは違う空気。
でも始まりはすごく単純で、
「レザーのウエスタンシャツ、着たいな」
そこから、知り合いの工場の技術を思い出して、 だったら作ろうと。
ただそれだけ。
ネーミングは、夜にバッタリ目の合う猫のイメージから。

すべて手塗り。
なので、本当に少量です。

In the April 30th issue of HailMary Magazine,
I had the pleasure of being featured in one of my favorite sections, “DADS STYLE.”
As always, my wardrobe may lack any curveballs, but this time I intentionally left out the denim jacket and put together a different lineup.
On other pages, Ryota—whom I recently had the chance to meet again at the MOTO event—is also featured, and his new brand “WORNCRAFT” looks fantastic.
