「あの頃の未来」の、その続き。
昨年、Reebok × TCB JEANSの第一弾として、「50’s Jacket」と「50’s Jeans」を作らせていただきました。
ベースになったのは、TCBがジーンズを考えるうえで、今も基準にしている1950年代のモデル。
僕が最初にヴィンテージジーンズに憧れたのもこの年代ですし、TCB JEANSが最初に作った一本も「50’s」でした。
第一弾のコラボレーションを発表した時、こんなことを書きました。
僕がジーンズに夢中になった90年代中盤は、XXモデルにハイテクスニーカーを合わせるのが楽しかった時代。
30年近く前、雑誌で「ポンプフューリー 香港返還モデル」を眺めながら、
「欲しいけど、絶対に手に入らないよな……」
と思っていた17歳の井上少年に会えるなら、こう伝えたい。
「香港返還モデルは持ってないけど、シトロンは手に入ったよ。
そして何と、Reebokと一緒にジーンズを作ることになったよ。」
あの頃の未来に、僕らは立っている。
そして今年、その未来には続きがありました。
昨年はReebokと一緒にジーンズを作りました。
今年は、シューズを作りました。
Reebok × TCB JEANS 第二弾。
「CLUB C 85 VINTAGE TCB jeans」
1950年代、ジーンズは作業着という用途を超え、ファッションとして愛されるようになりました。
そして1980年代には、テニスシューズがコートを飛び出し、ストリートの定番になっていきます。
生まれた時代も、場所も、用途も違う。
それでも、本来の役割を超えて、今も変わらず愛され続けている2つのマスターピース。
「50’s Jeans」と「CLUB C 85 VINTAGE」。
今回のコラボレーションは、その2つが交差した一足です。
アッパーの一部には、第一弾のジャケットとジーンズに使用したものと同じ岡山産デニムを採用。
そこに、CLUB C 85 VINTAGEならではのガーメントレザーを組み合わせました。
ヒールには、第一弾の50’s Jacketと50’s Jeansにも実際に使用した銅製リベット。
シュータンには、ヴィンテージジーンズの紙パッチを思わせる素材を使い、TCBの猫がReebokのINSTAPUMP FURYを履いた、今回だけのアートを入れています。
単に、デニムを使ったスニーカーを作りたかったわけではありません。
TCBのジーンズと同じように、履き込むことで完成していく一足を作りたいと思いました。
足に馴染んでいくレザー。
アタリやインディゴの色落ちが生まれる岡山産デニム。
履くたびにシワが深まっていく紙パッチ。
時間とともに風合いを増していく銅製リベット。
このシューズも、ジーンズと同じように、新品の状態が完成ではありません。
ぜひ、皆さんのジーンズと一緒に育ててください。
そして、いつか履き込んだ一足を見せてもらえたら嬉しいです。

The Next Chapter of the Future We Once Dreamed Of.
Last year, for the first Reebok × TCB JEANS collaboration, we created the “50’s Jacket” and “50’s Jeans.”
They were based on 1950s jeans—the era that remains the benchmark for everything we do at TCB.
It was denim from this period that first made me fall in love with vintage jeans, and when TCB JEANS began, the first pair we made was also our “50’s” model.
When we announced the first collaboration, I wrote the following:
I became obsessed with jeans in the mid-1990s, when wearing XX-style jeans with high-tech sneakers was part of the fun.
Nearly 30 years ago, I remember looking at the “INSTAPUMP FURY Hong Kong Handover” edition in a magazine and thinking:
“I want them, but there’s no way I’ll ever be able to get a pair.”
If I could meet the 17-year-old Hajime Inoue today, I would tell him:
“I never got the Hong Kong Handover edition, but I did get the Citron.
And somehow, you’re going to make jeans together with Reebok.”
We are now standing in the future we once dreamed of.
And this year, that future continues.
Last year, we made jeans together with Reebok.
This year, we made shoes.
The second Reebok × TCB JEANS collaboration:
“CLUB C 85 VINTAGE TCB jeans”
In the 1950s, jeans moved beyond their original role as workwear and became part of fashion.
In the 1980s, tennis shoes made a similar journey—leaving the court behind and becoming an essential part of street style.
They were born in different eras, in different places, and for different purposes.
Yet both transcended their original roles to become timeless masterpieces that are still loved today.
The “50’s Jeans” and the “CLUB C 85 VINTAGE.”
This collaboration brings those two classics together in a single pair of shoes.
Part of the upper is made from the same Okayama denim used for the jacket and jeans from our first collaboration.
We combined it with the premium garment leather that defines the CLUB C 85 VINTAGE.
The heel features the same copper rivet used on the 50’s Jacket and 50’s Jeans from the first collaboration.
The tongue is made from a material inspired by the paper patches found on vintage jeans and features an original piece of artwork created exclusively for this collaboration: the TCB cat wearing a pair of Reebok INSTAPUMP FURYs.
We did not simply want to make a sneaker using denim.
I wanted to create a pair that, just like TCB jeans, becomes complete only through years of wear.
Leather that gradually conforms to your feet.
Okayama denim that develops fading and distinctive wear patterns.
A paper patch that gains deeper creases every time you wear the shoes.
Copper rivets that develop a richer patina over time.
Just like a pair of jeans, these shoes are not finished when they are brand-new.
We hope you will wear them, age them, and make them your own alongside your favorite jeans.
And someday, I would be very happy to see how your pair has evolved.
