VintageのS506XXの空気感に近づけるために、
シルエットを見直したNew S40’s Jacket。
以前は、あえて着丈を長くし、ワイズもすっきりさせていましたが、
リニューアル後は、着丈は短く、肩は少し落ちる設計に。
結果的に、よりヴィンテージらしいバランスになり、
多くの方にご好評を頂いている形になりました。
この生地は、濃い。
そしてコシがあります。
ここからは少し妄想も含みますが——
戦時中、綿は軍需に優先的に回されていたため、
繊維長の短い綿を使わざるを得なかったのではないか。
その短い繊維を補うために、より強く撚る。
結果として生まれたのが、このコシのある糸。
完成した生地は、どこかゴワつきがある。
でもそれこそが、この時代のリアルだったのかもしれません。
そしてそのコシが、着込んだ時にしっかりヒゲを刻み、
メリハリの効いた、迫力ある色落ちへと育っていきます。
言い換えるなら、
“ちゃんと時間を刻んでくれる生地”。
昨日Restockしてオンラインストアに再掲載したばかりですが、
すでにサイズ欠けも出始めています。

The New S40’s Jacket was redesigned with one goal in mind—
to get closer to the atmosphere of a vintage S506XX.
Previously, we intentionally made the length slightly longer than vintage,
with a cleaner, slimmer fit.
With this renewal, the length is shorter, and the shoulders drop slightly.
The result is a silhouette that feels much closer to vintage—
and it has been very well received.
This fabric is deep in color.
And it has a certain firmness.
From here on, a bit of imagination comes into play—
during wartime, cotton was prioritized for military use,
which may have forced manufacturers to work with shorter fiber cotton.
To compensate, the fibers had to be twisted tighter.
And that process created this distinctive firmness in the yarn.
The finished fabric can feel a bit rough at first.
But perhaps, that was the reality of the time.
And that firmness is exactly what allows strong fades to develop—
sharp whiskers, bold contrast, and a powerful aging process.
In other words,
this is a fabric that truly “records time.”
We just restocked and re-listed it on our online store yesterday,
