つるっと先生と一緒に作らせて頂いた

以下は、先生に宿題として提出した作文です。
夏休みの宿題が春休みの宿題になり、
留年しながら提出したような気持ちで書いたものです。
この服を着る人たちが、
それぞれの場所で、
「Passed（それで良いじゃん！）」
そう言ってあげたり、
そう言ってもらえたりする。
そんな瞬間が、
少しでも増えたら嬉しいです。

大人になると、
褒められることは本当に少なくなります。

きっと、
ほとんどの人がその感覚を
いつの間にか忘れてしまっているのではないでしょうか。

でも、何歳になっても、
「よくできました」と言われるのは、
やっぱり嬉しいものです。

子供の頃、
全然学校の勉強をしなかった僕ですが、
たまに先生からもらう
“はなまる”と
「よくできました」のスタンプは、
間違いなく、
ほんの少しのモチベーションになっていました。

時を経て大人になり、
小さいながらも会社をやるようになると、
怒られることはあっても、
褒められることは、まずありません。

当たり前ですが、
この世界は、
“褒められるレベル”を日常の基準として
走り続けなければ生き残れない場所だからです。

そんな中で今回、
5〜6年お世話になっている
YouTubeチャンネル「ツルット」さんが所有する
ヴィンテージの大戦期 HERCULES のカバーオールをお借りして、
新しいカバーオールを作らせていただくことになりました。

いわゆる“コラボ”として仕上げることも、
もちろん出来たと思います。

でも、
ツルットさんが
YouTuberになる前は
“学校の先生”だったことを、
ご存知でしょうか。

その事実を思い出した時、
ふと、小学生の頃に戻ったような気持ちになりました。

宿題を先生に渡して、
夕方の終わりの会で、
「はなまる」と
「よくできました！」のスタンプを
押してもらった、あの時間です。

そこで今回は、
一着一着に、
ツルットさんご本人の手で、

PASSED BY TSURUTTO
GOOD WORK!

この2つのスタンプを押していただき、
皆さんの元へお届けしたいと思います。

この服は、
誰かに
「よくできました」と
言ってもらえた記憶ごと、
一緒に届ける服です。

ヘラクレスのヴィンテージを参考にする中で、
ネーミングには少し悩みました。

でも、ここはいつも
TCBが大切にしている原点に
立ち返ることにしました。

僕は常日頃から、
ジーンズそのものを売るのではなく、
ジーンズのある生活を売りたい
と公言してきました。

それは、
手にした人の気持ちを少し上げて、
学校や会社へ向かうための
小さな“戦闘服”のような存在。

その状態を猫で表現するなら、
毛繕いをしながら、
ゴロゴロと喉を鳴らしている姿でしょうか。

今回のカバーオールも、
着用者が思わずゴロゴロ音を立ててしまうほど、
ご機嫌に着てもらえたら嬉しい。

そして、
元ネタである HERCULES を
少しだけ文字遊びさせていただき、

PURRCULE（パーキュレス）

と名付けました。

つるっとさんが用意してくれた元ネタは、
大戦期のヘラクレス。

戦前の非対称なカバーオールが好きな僕にとって、
正直、大戦モデルは
あっさりし過ぎている印象があり、
これまでは
あまり得意ではありませんでした。

ただ、この個体は違いました。

通称“大戦4つポケ”。
襟の閉じ方も、
どこかライダースジャケットのようで、
一気に引き込まれました。

資材の使用量が限られていた時代背景から、
トリプルステッチは禁止され、
ダブルステッチで縫製されている点も、
分かりやすい特徴です。

生地は、
岡本テキスタイルさんにご協力いただき、
ヴィンテージを
岡本社長に糸から分析してもらいました。

タテ・ヨコともに10番手。
10ozの生地に仕上げています。

今回の糸の特徴は、
横糸にグレーのトップ染め糸を使用している点です。

新品の状態では差が出づらいかもしれませんが、
経年変化した時に、
トップ染めならではの表情が
しっかり現れてくれたらいいなと思っています。

追伸

2026年の年始早々、
私、井上は足を骨折しました。

怪我をして思うのは、
大好きな服を着て生活できること。
お腹が空いて、
眠たくなったら眠れること。

そんな当たり前のことが、
どれだけ幸せなのか、
改めて気付かされます。

猫のゴロゴロ音は、
骨折の治りに効くという
エビデンスがあるそうです。

聴くゴロゴロ音と、
着るゴロゴロ音。

一刻も早く、
二足歩行でのジーンズライフを
復活させたいと思います。

We had the pleasure of creating PURRCULE together with Tsurutto.
The pre-order release, sold through Tsurutto’s online store, is now completely sold out.

What follows is a piece I submitted to Tsurutto-sensei as “homework.”
It feels like something I should have handed in during summer vacation,
but instead, I’m submitting it late—like a student repeating a year.
I hope that those who wear this garment, wherever they may be,
will have moments where they can say to someone:
“Passed. That’s good enough.”
—or hear those words themselves.
If this piece can create even a few more of those moments,
that would make me very happy.
As we grow older,
we are rarely praised.
Perhaps most people have simply forgotten
what that feeling is like.
And yet, no matter how old we get,
being told “Good job”
still feels good.
As a child,
I was never much of a student,
but the occasional “well done” stamp from my teacher
was enough to give me just a little motivation.
As time passed and I became an adult—
and eventually someone who runs a small company—
I realized something:
You may get criticized,
but you are almost never praised.
Naturally, this world expects you to operate
at a “praiseworthy level” as the baseline just to survive.
In the midst of all this,
we were given the opportunity to borrow a vintage WWII-era
HERCULES coverall owned by the YouTube channel Tsurutto,
whom we’ve worked with for the past 5–6 years.
Of course, we could have simply made this a typical “collaboration.”
But did you know that before becoming a YouTuber,
Tsurutto was actually a school teacher?
When I remembered that,
it brought me back to my elementary school days—
Handing in homework,
and receiving a “well done” stamp
at the end of the day.
So this time,
each piece was stamped by Tsurutto himself with:
PASSED BY TSURUTTO
GOOD WORK!
This garment carries not only the product itself,
but also the memory of being told,
“You did well.”
While referencing the vintage HERCULES piece,
we spent some time thinking about the name.
In the end, we returned to a core belief of TCB:
We don’t just sell jeans—
we sell the life that comes with them.
Clothing that lifts your spirit just a little,
helping you step out into school or work—
like a small kind of “uniform for life.”
If we were to express that feeling as a cat,
it would be the image of a cat grooming itself,
purring softly.
With this coverall,
we hope the wearer feels comfortable enough
to “purr” with satisfaction.
And so, with a small play on words inspired by HERCULES,
we named it:
PURRCULE
To be honest,
I’ve always preferred pre-war asymmetrical coveralls,
and WWII models felt a bit too simple for my taste.
But this particular piece was different.
Known as the “WWII 4-pocket” model,
its collar closure had a certain rider’s jacket feel,
and it immediately drew me in.
Due to wartime material restrictions,
triple stitching was avoided,
and instead, double stitching was used—
a defining characteristic.
The fabric was developed with the help of Okamoto Textile,
where the vintage garment was analyzed down to the yarn level.
Both warp and weft use size #10 yarn,
resulting in a 10oz fabric.
One key feature is the grey top-dyed yarn used in the weft.
It may not stand out when new,
but we hope it reveals a unique character
as the garment ages.
Postscript
At the very beginning of 2026,
I, Inoue, broke my leg.
What you realize when injured is simple:
Being able to wear the clothes you love,
feeling hungry,
and being able to sleep when you’re tired—
These ordinary things
are actually extraordinary.
Apparently,
there is evidence that the sound of a cat’s purring
can help heal bones.
The sound you hear,
and the “purr” you wear.
I hope to return to my two-footed denim life
as soon as possible.
