素敵なカナディアン。
「写真を撮っても良い？」
そう聞くと、
「ちょっと待って」と言って、
ヨーヨーの技を披露してくれた。
先日紹介した、
プロポーズを終えたばかりのスイスのカップルに、
難しそうな技を見せながら、
本人は真剣なのに、
周りは笑ってる光景がなんだか最高だった。
本当は、
もっと違う写真を撮るつもりだったけど、
予定通りじゃない写真の方が、
後から好きになる事もある。
児島の小さな店なのに、
世界中からここを目的地にして来てくれる人が居る。
最近、
そんな景色を見る度に、
この店を続けて来て良かったなと思う。

When I asked,
“Can I take your photo?”
he said,
“Wait a second,”
and started showing us his yo-yo tricks.
He was performing some incredibly difficult moves
for the Swiss couple I introduced the other day,
the couple who had just gotten engaged during their trip to Japan.
He was completely serious,
while everyone around him was laughing.
Somehow, that moment felt perfect.
Honestly,
this wasn’t the kind of photo I was planning to take.
But sometimes,
the photos you never planned for
become your favorites later on.
It’s just a small shop here in Kojima,
yet people from all over the world make this place part of their journey.
Lately,
every time I see moments like this,
I feel grateful that we kept this place going.
