スイスから旅行中のお二人。
聞けば、日本滞在中にプロポーズをしたらしく、
無事に成功した様子でした。
ジーンズの魅力って、
もちろん気兼ねなく毎日着られる事が大部分だと思います。
でも、
こういう人生の節目で着始めた服って、
きっと少しだけ特別になる。
旅行中、
彼はフィルムのLeicaを片手に、
色々な景色や時間を撮り溜めていた様子でした。
将来その写真を見返した時、
まだ色が濃かった頃は二人だったけど、
ヒゲが刻まれ、
アタリが増えていく頃には、
写真に映る人数も増えているかもしれない。
そして何年後かに、
TCBで買ったこのGジャンを見ながら、
「このサイズを着れるくらい細かったんだね」
なんて笑ってくれたら、
作り手としてはすごく嬉しいです。

But clothes that begin their journey with you at a special moment in life become something a little different.

Someday, when they look back at those photographs, maybe it will remind them that when the denim was still dark, there were only two people in the picture.
As the whiskers begin to appear,
and the fades slowly develop,
maybe the number of people in those photographs will grow as well.
And years from now, while looking at the G jacket they bought here at TCB, maybe they’ll laugh together and say:
“Wow… we were slim enough to wear this size back then.”
As the person making these clothes, that would make me very happy.
