今回の Frisco Pants で一番拘ったのは、実はシルエットでもディテールでもなく、生地のケバ感です。
写真だけ見ると、
ワークパンツ？
BD型？
Dickies型？
それとも軍チノ？
うん、既視感。
そう見えるかもしれません。
でも、Vintageの生地を見ていて一番惹かれたのは、表面にある独特の毛羽立ちでした。
ただフラットで綺麗な生地ではなく、
少し空気を含んだような、
触ると柔らかさを感じるような、
あの表情。
今回はその雰囲気を出すために、ピーチファブリックという桃の肌触りをイメージした生地を、オリジナルで作ってもらいました。
使用しているのは、イタリアの MARIO CROSTA社製ブラッシング起毛機。
生地屋さんが何度も、
「マリオピーチ」
「マリオピーチ」
と言うので、私はずっと
「任天堂の？」
と思っていたのですが、イタリアの“マリオ”という名前の機械で起毛させるから、マリオピーチなのだと後から知りました。
どうか現場の職人さんが、口髭を生やしてオーバーオールで仕事をしていますように。
このマリオピーチの特徴は、一般的なペーパー起毛のように表面を削るのではなく、繊維を立たせること。
そのおかげで、ふっくらとした柔らかさと、自然な表情が生まれます。
染色は硫化染め。
穿き込むほどに色が抜け、アタリやパッカリングが現れ、ワークパンツらしい経年変化も楽しめます。
いわゆるBDやDickiesのような見え方もありながら、
そこに「色を育てる」という楽しみを加えたパンツ。
写真ではなかなか伝わらないかもしれませんが、
ぜひ手に取ってほしい一本に仕上がりました。
What we focused on the most with these Frisco Pants was actually not the silhouette or the details, but the slightly fuzzy texture of the fabric.
Just looking at the photos, you might think,
Work pants?
BD-style pants?
Dickies-style pants?
Or maybe military chinos?
Yeah, it may feel familiar.
But when I looked at vintage fabrics, what attracted me the most was the unique fuzziness on the surface.
Not a flat, clean fabric,
but something that feels like it contains a little air,
something that feels soft to the touch,
that kind of expression.
To recreate that feeling, we had an original peach fabric made for us, inspired by the texture of a peach skin.
The fabric is brushed using a brushing raising machine made by MARIO CROSTA in Italy.
The fabric supplier kept saying,
“Mario Peach”
“Mario Peach”
so the whole time I was thinking,
“Like Nintendo?”
Later, I found out that it is called Mario Peach because the fabric is brushed using an Italian machine named Mario.
I sincerely hope the craftsman working on it has a moustache and wears overalls.
The special thing about Mario Peach is that, unlike regular paper brushing which scrapes the surface, it raises the fibers instead.
That creates a soft, full texture and a natural expression.
The fabric is sulfur dyed.
The more you wear them, the more the color fades, and you can enjoy the puckering, fading, and aging that feel true to work pants.
They may have the familiar look of BD-style pants or Dickies,
but we added the extra enjoyment of being able to “grow” the color over time.
It may be hard to fully show this through photos,
but this is a pair we really hope you will pick up and feel in person.
