大人になると、 褒められることって本当に少なくなります。
だからこそ、 何歳になっても
「よくできました」と言われるのは、 やっぱり嬉しいものだと思います。
そんな思いから生まれた、 つるっとさんとのカバーオール “PASSED”。
ありがたいことに、 第一弾のIndigoは瞬く間に皆さんの元へ旅立ち、 この度、第二弾として BK を作らせていただきました。
真っ白なキャンバスに、 様々な思い出が染み込んでいく服もあります。
でも、このBKは少し違います。
真っ黒なファブリックだからこそ、 袖を通した回数、 ポケットに手を入れた皺、 肘に刻まれる生活の跡、 白いステッチのまわりに浮かび上がるパッカリング。
そういった日々の小さな変化を、 見逃さずに刻んでくれる服だと思っています。
私の大好きな言葉に、 Connecting the dots という言葉があります。 振り返った時に初めて、 バラバラだった点が繋がっていたことに気づく。
このBKのPASSEDは、 その“点”を少しずつ可視化してくれる服になると思っています。
今回の元ネタは、 5年以上のお付き合いとなる “ちゃんねるツルット”のつるっとさんが所有する、 大戦期のヴィンテージ・ヘラクレスのカバーオール。
「いつかTCBさんで、自分の大好きなカバーオールを形にしたい」 そんな話をいただいてから、 もう数年が経ちました。
ただ古い服をなぞるのではなく、 元教師だったつるっとさんの背景と、 大人になっても誰かに認めてもらいたい気持ちを重ねて、 TCBらしく形にしました。
ネーミングには少し悩みましたが、 ここはTCBがいつも大切にしている原点に立ち返りました。
僕は常日頃から、 ジーンズそのものを売るのではなく、 ジーンズのある生活を売りたい と公言してきました。
手にした人の気持ちを少し上げて、 学校や会社へ向かうための、 小さな“戦闘服”のような存在。
そして、その服を着た一日が少しでもご機嫌なものになってほしい。 その状態を猫で表現するなら、 毛繕いをしながら、 ゴロゴロと喉を鳴らしている姿でしょうか。
今回のカバーオールも、 着た人が思わずゴロゴロ音を立ててしまうくらい、 ご機嫌に着てもらえたら嬉しい。
そんな思いから、 元ネタである HERCULES を少しだけ文字遊びして、 PURRCULE / パーキュレス と名付けました。
つるっとさんが用意してくれた元ネタは、 大戦期のヘラクレス。
正直に言うと、 戦前の非対称なカバーオールが好きな僕にとって、 大戦モデルは少しあっさりし過ぎている印象があり、 これまではあまり得意ではありませんでした。
でも、この個体は違いました。
通称“大戦4つポケ”。
襟の閉じ方もどこかライダースジャケットのようで、 一気に引き込まれました。
資材の使用量が限られていた時代背景から、 トリプルステッチではなく、 ダブルステッチで縫製されている点も特徴です。
生地は、 10.8oz / 2/1右綾のワークデニム。
経糸にはジンバブエコットン、 緯糸にはネップ糸を使用しています。
経糸はロープ染色による硫化染めの中白ブラック。
緯糸はチーズ染色による硫化染めブラック。
一見するとマットな無地の黒に見えますが、 経糸と緯糸で染色方法が異なるため、 着用とともにコントラストのある縦落ちと、 奥行きのある色落ちが期待できます。
さらに、黒く染まったネップが生地の中に残ることで、 着込んで色が抜けた時に、 何とも言えない表情を生んでくれるはずです。

Indigoとは違い、 このBKは少し多めに洗いながら育てたいなと企んでいます。
誰かに褒められるための服ではないけれど、 着るたびに少しだけ、 自分の毎日を肯定できる服。
今日もよくやった。
この皺も、このアタリも、 きっといつか繋がっていく。

As we grow older, we rarely get praised by others. That is precisely why, regardless of age, it makes us so happy, doesn’t it? Born from that sentiment is the “PASSED” Purccles coverall, created in collaboration with Youtuber, Tsrutto-san.Thanks to everyone’s support, the first release of the Indigo version found its way to new owners in the blink of an eye; now, we are proud to introduce the second release of the black denim version.
Some garments act like a blank canvas, soaking up various memories over time. But this BK version is a little different.

Because the fabric is pitch-black, it captures the details of your life: the number of times you’ve slipped your arms into the sleeves, the creases formed by hands in pockets, the marks etched into the elbows by your daily life, and the puckering that emerges around the white stitching. I believe this is a garment that faithfully records those small, daily changes without letting them go unnoticed.
One of my favorite phrases is Connecting the dots. It is only when looking back that we realize how seemingly disconnected points were actually linked all along.
I believe these coveralls will serve to make those dots visible.

With that in mind, I took the original “HERCULES” model and played with the name a little, dubbing it “PURRCULE.”
The source material provided by Tsurutto-san was a Hercules model from the World War II era.To be honest, as someone who prefers pre-war coveralls with asymmetrical pocket design, I used to find the wartime models a bit too plain for my taste.
But this particular piece was different. It’s the style known as the “Wartime 4-Pocket.”
The way the collar closes is reminiscent of a rider’s jacket, and I was instantly captivated.
Reflecting the era’s restrictions on material usage, it features double-stitching rather than the usual triple-stitching.
The fabric is a 10.8oz, 2/1 right-hand twill work denim.
It uses Zimbabwean cotton for the warp and nep yarn for the weft.
The warp is rope-dyed with sulfur black, leaving the core white, while the weft is cheese-dyed with sulfur black.At first glance, it looks like a solid matte black, but because the dyeing methods differ for the warp and weft, you can expect high-contrast vertical fading and a rich, dimensional aging process as you wear it.
Furthermore, the black-dyed neps remaining in the fabric should create a unique, expressive texture as the color fades over time.

Unlike the indigo version, I plan to break this black model in by washing it a bit more frequently.It’s not a garment designed to garner praise from others, but rather one that lets you affirm your own daily life a little more each time you wear it.
“You did a good job today.”
These creases and fade marks will surely all come together in the end.
