Back on the road with Tsurutto-san for the first time in a while.
Making jeans brings all kinds of encounters into our lives.
Jeans were once loved for their ability to withstand a strong pull without tearing.
More than 150 years later, I’ve come to love them for another kind of pull: the way they draw people and things into my life.
Perhaps our shared love of jeans works like a magnetic field, drawing interesting people and things our way.
Those encounters connect, sometimes unfolding into a story that feels like a film.
Today, I think we managed to capture one of those stories on video.
It will be a little while before we can share it, but I hope you’ll look forward to it.
Today’s photos show Tsurutto-san’s Late S40’s, taken on our way home.
“I can’t believe how much character they’ve developed,” I thought, and asked if I could photograph them at a highway rest stop.
The days are getting shorter, and it was actually much darker than it looks in the photos.
I couldn’t quite capture all the subtle details of the fading, but our first trip together in a while also gave me a chance to notice how much his jeans had changed.
Next time, I’ll photograph them again in better daylight.
