最近、立て続けに発表したコーデュロイのCat HeadとS40’s JK。
1960〜70年代のトラッカージャケットの中でも、私にとって印象深い２つの色を再現しました。

当時のコーデュロイの着こなしを探していると、どこかヒッピーの匂いがする写真に行き着きます。
それならば、とギターが得意なTCBのスタッフに弾いてもらうことに。

すると、良い意味での
「売れないミュージシャン感」
が出て、悪くない。笑

まだお金がなくて、手持ちの古着でステージに立っている。
でも、その格好が妙に魅力的だったりする。
本人はただ普段の服を着ているだけなのに、こちらは真似したくなる。

売れて、衣装が立派になっていくのも夢のある話ですが、最初に惹かれたあの佇まいは、残っていてほしい。
勝手な願いですが、そんなことを思ってしまいます。

以前、ジョン・レノンが着ていたGジャンを再現するために、関係者のトニーに話を聞いた時も、そんな服とミュージシャンの関係について話したことを思い出しました。

撮影をしているうちに、もうひとつ思い出したことが。
「そういえば昔、CORDUROYっていうバンドがいたぞ」

1994年のBoonを引っ張り出してみると、いました。
しかも、履いているのは517のCordsのようです。

今回の写真でセナ君が履いているのも、色褪せた517のCords。
左の海老谷は、裾を切りっぱなしにしたCat Worker。
それぞれの着こなしに、今回の２色がうまく馴染んでくれました。

売れないミュージシャン感を残しつつ、売れていくのが一番カッコイイ。

TCBでも気をつけなきゃいけないことですね。笑
Recently, we released our corduroy Cat Head and S40’s jackets in quick succession.
For these, we recreated two colors that have always stood out to me on trucker jackets from the 1960s and ’70s.

When I look for photos of people wearing corduroy back then, I always seem to end up with images that have a hint of hippie spirit.
So I asked a couple of our guitar-playing TCB staff to play for the camera.

The result had that “struggling musician” feel—in the best possible way.
And I have to say, it works. Haha.

Someone who hasn’t got much money yet, stepping onto a stage in whatever vintage clothes they own.
There’s something strangely appealing about that.
They’re just wearing their everyday clothes, but somehow, we want to dress like them.

Finding success and getting better stage outfits is part of the dream, of course.
But I always hope they’ll hold on to that presence that drew me to them in the first place.
It’s a selfish wish, perhaps, but I can’t help feeling that way.

It reminded me of a conversation with Tony, who had connections to John Lennon, when we were working on recreating a denim jacket Lennon had worn. We talked about that same relationship between musicians and their clothes.

Then, during the shoot, something else came back to me.
“Wasn’t there a band called CORDUROY?”

I pulled out a 1994 issue of Boon, and there they were.
And it looks like they’re wearing 517 cords.

Sena is also wearing a faded pair of 517 cords in these photos.
Ebitani, on the left, is wearing Cat Worker pants with the hems cut off.
Our two new colors fit naturally into each of their styles.

Making it big while still looking like you haven’t—that’s the coolest way to do it.

Something we need to keep in mind at TCB, too. Haha.
