557XXの魅力って、 1stや2ndのそれまでのボックスシルエット中心の時代から、 より身体に沿わせる為に切り替えを増やし、 服を立体的にしていった時代。
その結果として生まれたのが、 巻き縫いによるダブルステッチのパッカリング。
特にVintageのBig E 557XXを見ると、 フロントのV字部分。 本来なら地の目を無視する様な箇所に、 強烈な凹凸と捻れが生まれていて美しい。
だから今回の60’s JK BKBKでも、 同じ針幅、同じ運針で縫い合わせる事で、 強いパッカリングが出る様に設計しました。
ただ、 黒に黒ステッチなので、 新品状態では正直かなり伝わりにくい。
でも、 これが色落ちしてくると、 一気に立体感が浮かび上がってくる。
今からその変化が楽しみな1着です。
せっかく身体に沿わせる為に作られた年代なので、 今回はあえてジャストサイズで着用してみました。
180cm / 70kgでサイズ40を着ています。
Tシャツの上からしか着れないくらいのサイズ感。
でも寒くなったら、 その上から何か羽織るのも素敵かと思います。
One of the biggest charms of the 557XX, to me, is how it marked the transition from the boxy silhouettes of the 1st and 2nd era into a more body-shaped design with increased paneling and a more three-dimensional construction.
And what naturally came from that construction was the beautiful puckering created by double-needle flat-felled seams.
Especially when you look at vintage Big E 557XX jackets, the V-shaped panels on the front are incredible.
Areas that technically go against the grain end up creating strong twisting and uneven puckering that feels almost sculptural.
So with the new 60’s JK BKBK, we intentionally used the same needle spacing and stitch pitch to create strong puckering in the same spirit.
That said,
black stitching on black denim makes it honestly very difficult to see when the jacket is brand new.
But once the fabric starts fading,
all that texture and dimensionality will slowly emerge.
I’m already excited to see how this jacket ages.
Since this era was designed to follow the body more closely,
I decided to wear this one in a true just-fit size.
I’m 180cm / 70kg and wearing size 40.
It’s the kind of fit that only really works over a T-shirt.
But once it gets colder,
I think it would also look great layered under another jacket.
