夏だろうと冬だろうと、
TCBの1Fで作られている景色はあまり変わりません。
一般的な縫製工場なら、
冬に夏物を縫って、
今頃は暖かい素材を触っている時期なのかもしれません。
でもTCBは相変わらず、
一年中デニムを縫っています。
いつもは2Fのデッキスペースで撮影する事に甘えてしまうので、
今日はカメラ片手に1Fへ。
ちょうどS40’sの生産中でした。
自社工場だからなのか、
昔からの癖なのか。
TCBでは紙の仕様書だけで作る事はあまりありません。
実際に縫った製品に、
「ここは何針」
「ここはこう折る」
「ここ注意」
そんな事をペタペタ貼りながら、
100%同じ景色を共有出来るようにしています。
紙よりも早いし、
何より縫う人が迷わない。
工場の中には、
説明書じゃなくて、
完成品そのものがぶら下がっている。
たぶんこれも、
TCBらしいやり方なんだと思います。
Whether it’s summer or winter,
the scenery on the first floor of TCB doesn’t really change.
At a typical sewing factory,
they’re probably sewing summer clothes during winter,
and around this time of year they might already be handling warmer fabrics.
But at TCB, as always,
we’re sewing denim all year round.
I usually end up relying on the deck space on the second floor for photos,
so today I grabbed my camera and headed down to the first floor.
Right in front of me was S40’s production in progress.
Maybe it’s because we have our own factory,
or maybe it’s just an old habit.
At TCB, we don’t really rely only on paper spec sheets.
Instead, we take an actual finished sample and cover it with notes:
“how many stitches here”
“fold this part like this”
“pay attention here”
We keep adding little notes everywhere so everyone can share exactly the same picture.
It’s faster than paper,
but more importantly,
it keeps the people sewing from having to guess.
Inside our factory,
instead of hanging instructions,
we hang the finished product itself.
I guess this is also part of the TCB way.
