For years, I’d had my eye on a salmon pink Type III corduroy jacket.
“If I happen to come across one in a vintage shop, maybe I’ll pick it up.”
That was about as far as my interest went—until, before I knew it, they had become rare.
I eventually bought one, thinking that if I kept putting it off, I’d regret it when I saw the prices down the road.
Meanwhile, things were changing at the fabric suppliers, too.
There used to be corduroy fabrics openly described as “for Levi’s cords”—readily available enough that there was no need to develop our own.
But when I went looking, the fabric I wanted had already been discontinued.
Buying it was getting harder. So was making it.
And somehow, realizing that only made me want to make it even more. Maybe that’s just human nature. Haha.
I considered following the original and making a Type III, but then I thought,
“Wouldn’t a WWII-style jacket be easier for everyone to work into their wardrobe?”
And that’s how our salmon pink S40’s Cords came to be.
A few years have passed since then.
With the S40’s itself having been updated, we’ve now brought the corduroy version back in the current silhouette.
The color that caught my eye back then, in the shape of TCB today.
Please welcome back our salmon pink S40’s Cords.
