私たちにとって、ジーンズの基準となる一本です。

生地が厚いのか、薄いのか。
色が濃いのか、淡いのか。
シルエットが太いのか、細いのか。
何かを比べる時には、いつも50’sが真ん中にあった気がします。

そんな50’sに、数年前からシルエットのバリエーションを加えてきました。

最初に作ったのは、ヨーロッパやアジアに向けたSlim 50’s。
右ハンドルの日本車を、輸出先に合わせて左ハンドルにするように。
私たちが大切にしている作りを、その土地の人たちが取り入れやすい形で届けたい、という考えでした。

それをきっかけに、50’sを選んでくれる人が増えたことは嬉しい出来事でした。
海外でUberを呼ぶたびにプリウスが迎えに来て、
「ここでも日本の車が馴染んでいるんだな」
と嬉しくなる、あの感覚に少し似ています。笑

そして、その後に加わったのがBaggy 50’sです。

今度は国境だけでなく、着こなしや好みの違いも越えて、TCBを楽しんでもらいたい。
私たちが好きな50’sの生地や縫製、その先にある色落ちを、もっと色々なスタイルの中で見てみたいと思いました。

写真のように、スニーカーと合わせて自然に穿いている姿を見ると、シルエットを広げた意味を感じます。
私たちが作ってきた50’sに、穿く人の好みが重なって、新しい表情が生まれる。

私たちにとってのスタンダードが、その人にとっても、つい手に取ってしまう一本になってくれたら嬉しいです。

The 50’s is one of TCB’s flagship models.
For us, it’s the pair that sets the standard.

Is the denim heavy or light?
Is the shade dark or pale?
Is the silhouette wide or slim?
Whenever we compare jeans, the 50’s always seems to be our reference point.

A few years ago, we started adding different silhouettes to the 50’s lineup.

The first was the Slim 50’s, created with Europe and Asia in mind.
Much like adapting a right-hand-drive Japanese car to left-hand drive for its export market, we wanted to bring the craftsmanship we value to people in a form that would fit naturally into their lives.

It was wonderful to see more people choosing the 50’s as a result.
It’s a little like calling an Uber overseas and having a Prius turn up every time.
There’s that small sense of pride: “Japanese cars feel right at home here, too.” Haha.

Then came the Baggy 50’s.

This time, we wanted TCB to reach beyond borders and across different styles and tastes.
We wanted to see the 50’s denim and construction we love—and the fades that develop with wear—become part of a wider range of outfits.

Seeing them worn so naturally with sneakers, as in these photos, reminds us why we expanded the range of silhouettes.
The 50’s we’ve been making takes on a new character through the personal style of whoever wears it.

We’d be happy if our standard became someone else’s everyday go-to pair.
