30’s Jacketが補充できました。
Ryo君が良い色落ちすぎて、
思わずメルカリで購入してしまった、
誰かが育てた30’s Jacket。
届いた物を着てもらうと、
襟の癖も含めて本当に素晴らしい表情でした。
TCBのラインナップの中でも、
30’sは最も濃色な生地。
おそらく、
しっかり着込まれて、
必要なタイミングで洗われながら育ってきたんだろうなと思う色落ちです。
デニムって、
洗わずに着込み過ぎると、
ベースの色が残り過ぎたり、
縫い目のパッカリングが出にくかったりする。
逆に洗い過ぎると、
今度はヒゲやアタリが弱くなる。
そのちょうど真ん中。
袖のアタリや、
ポケット周りの色の残り方も含めて、
すごく自然でバランス良く育った1着だと思います。
30’s Jacketが持っている濃さやハリ感も手伝って、
比較的こういうメリハリのある色落ちは狙いやすい生地かなと思っています。
少し手前味噌ですが、
「色が落ちた服」というより、
ちゃんと着込んできた時間が見える服だなと思いました。
今回補充したジャケット達も、
数年後にはまた誰かの生活や癖が刻まれて、
全然違う表情になっているのかもしれません。
30’s Jacket has been restocked.
Ryo found a 30’s Jacket with such an amazing fade that he couldn’t resist buying it on Mercari — a jacket that had already been shaped and worn in by someone else.
When it arrived and we had him put it on, the expression of the jacket was just incredible, including the way the collar had developed its own character over time.
Among all of TCB’s lineup, the 30’s uses our darkest denim fabric.
Looking at it, I imagine it had been worn hard and washed at just the right moments throughout its life.
With denim, if you wear it too hard without washing, the base color tends to stay too dark and you don’t get as much puckering along the seams.
On the other hand, if you wash it too often, the whiskers and fades become softer.
This jacket feels like it landed right in the middle.
The sleeve fades, the way color remains around the pockets, and all those little details make it feel like a very naturally and beautifully balanced fade.
The depth of color and stiffness that the 30’s fabric has probably helps too, making this kind of high-contrast fade relatively easier to achieve.
Maybe I’m being a little biased, but to me this doesn’t simply feel like “a faded jacket.”
It feels like a jacket where you can actually see the time someone spent wearing it.
Maybe the jackets we’ve just restocked will also end up carrying someone else’s habits, lifestyle, and years of wear — becoming completely different expressions of themselves a few years from now.
