昨年の秋冬、Workersに別注して作ってもらった

「CAT’S COLLEGE ATOZUKE PARKA」。

発売後、ありがたいことに一瞬で完売しました。

あの可愛いデザインを春夏にも着たいと思い、今年の春には七分袖のFootball Teeとして復活。

こちらも発表後、すぐに完売となりました。

でも、春に着ているうちに思ったんです。

「これ、半袖でも着たいよな。」

そこで今回は、同じCAT’S COLLEGEのデザインを、真夏にも着られる半袖のTシャツスタイルで作ってもらいました。

Workersの舘野さんとは、毎回、

「こんなの作れないですかね？」

という雑談から始まることが多いのですが、CAT’S COLLEGEも、そんな会話から生まれたシリーズです。

色は、淡いグリーンとブラックのコンビ。

このグリーンを決める時には、最後までかなり悩みました。

鮮やかすぎても違う。

ミリタリーっぽくなりすぎても違う。

最終的にイメージしたのは「猫草」でした。

春になると、猫が喜んでかじる、あの草の色。

そんな少しくすんだ柔らかいグリーンを、Workersのインラインにはない、TCBだけの別注カラーとして作ってもらっています。

ブラックの襟と袖を組み合わせることで、猫草カラーの甘さを少し抑え、昔のカレッジTシャツのような雰囲気に。

胸には「WORKERS」の文字と猫の顔。

その下には、大きく「T.C.B」。

猫を前面に出したデザインですが、デニムと合わせると不思議と可愛くなりすぎません。

別に「猫草」に掛けたわけではありませんが、このグリーン×ブラックの2トーンが、草野球のユニフォームのようにも見えるところも気に入っていますwww

さらに言えば、キューバやアメリカのマイナーリーグで、昔使われていそうな色の組み合わせ。

少し素朴で土臭い、いわば「草スポーツ」のような雰囲気も、このTシャツの魅力だと思います。

猫のプリントなのに、可愛いだけでは終わらない。

どこか古いベースボールウェアのような匂いがあるところも、気に入っているポイントです。

秋冬は後付けパーカ。

春は七分袖のFootball Tee。

そして夏は、半袖のTシャツ。

夏のTCBにも、猫草を。
We focused on making the neckline exceptionally durable. It stretches to allow the head to pass through but snaps back snugly around the neck. We utilized a “two-step binder” construction—a method that prevents the collar from stretching out easily, even with repeated wear. To achieve this, we made a custom attachment made specifically for our sewing machines.

For the hem and cuffs, we used a finish known as “Tenchi” (top-and-bottom stitch). While sometimes referred to simply as a “single stitch” these days, it isn’t actually sewn with a standard single-needle machine; instead, we adjust the settings on an overlock machine.

This year, we are using a 7-ounce jersey fabric. It has a dry, crisp texture typical of vintage T-shirts. It feels great to wear and is sturdy enough to hold its shape well, yet the fabric isn’t overly thick —it has just the right weight and is comfortable.

My conversations with Mr. Tateno from Workers often start with a casual, “Do you think we could make something like this?” The “CAT’S COLLEGE” series was born from just such a chat.
It features a color combination of pale green and black.
It couldn’t be too vivid. It couldn’t look too military-style, either.
In the end, the image I settled on was “cat grass”.That specific shade of grass that cats love to munch on when spring arrives.

We had this soft, slightly muted green created as a TCB exclusive, a color not found in Workers’ standard lineup.
By pairing it with a black collar and sleeves, we toned down the sweetness of the cat-grass green, giving it the vibe of a vintage college T-shirt. The chest features the word “WORKERS” and a cat’s face, with “T.C.B” printed in large letters underneath.

Although the design puts the cat front and center, it doesn’t feel overly cute when paired with denim—surprisingly enough.
It wasn’t an intentional play on words regarding “cat grass,” but I also love how the green-and-black two-tone look resembles a sandlot baseball uniform.
What’s more, it’s a color combination that looks like something used in Cuban or American minor leagues back in the day. That slightly rustic, down-to-earth, “grassroots sports” atmosphere is part of the T-shirt’s charm. It features a cat print, yet it offers so much more than just cuteness.
