Blankets in summer. A blanket-lined nap in autumn.
The INSIDE-OUT STRIPE TEE began with a thought I had while looking at vintage 517XX and 519XX jackets:
“These stripes are too good to keep hidden inside a jacket.”
Even in summer, when there’s no need for a blanket lining, I still wanted to wear those stripes.
That slightly greedy wish became a T-shirt, and now the season has finally arrived to enjoy it underneath a denim jacket.
Since it was a denim jacket lining that made me fall in love with this pattern in the first place, there was never much doubt that it would look good with denim.
Today, we paired it with a vintage 517XX.
And while we were at it, we turned the 517XX inside out, too.
The original blanket lining and the T-shirt it inspired, both on full display.
At this point, the outfit probably tells you just how much I love these stripes. Haha.
With this T-shirt, we wanted to capture more than just the colors of the stripes. The texture and depth of the yarns in a vintage blanket lining mattered just as much.
That’s why we chose an inlay knit.
And we brought along cushions made from the same fabric.
Lie back in a denim jacket, rest your head on a cushion, and pull your hat down a little over your face.
There’s something about that look—a cowboy taking a break—that just feels effortlessly cool.
The jeans are a faded pair of Late S40’s.
Their blue looks right at home alongside the slightly muted colors of the blanket stripes.
They have plenty of character when you’re standing, and just as much when you’re stretched out for a nap.
A fabric we created so we could wear blanket stripes in summer now sits beneath a denim jacket in autumn—and, before we knew it, beneath our heads as well.
Apparently, simply wearing our favorite stripes wasn’t enough.
Pair the tee with your favorite denim jacket this autumn.
And when it’s time for a nap, reach for a cushion made from the same fabric.
One more way to enjoy the blanket stripes we love.
